Sibling Interactions

While there are definitely moments when Tyler and Megan get irritated with one another, most of the time they are happy to be with one another.

Here Megan is wondering why Tyler is sleeping (Megan has not yet mastered the floor nap, or any other type of nap to be honest). I imagine she is thinking 'why are you sleeping when there is so much fun to be had.'

I walked into the living room after breakast a few days ago to find my kids in a big bear hug. I just love it!

Ice, with a little snow mixed in

While the entire family was suffering from cabin fever after three days at home, we did take time to enjoy the wintery weather. Tyler made a tiny snowman, collected icicles, and had a wonderful time playing out in the cold. However, Megan did not embrace the cold like her brother did.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TYLER!

Tyler's 4th birthday was Monday and we had his party here on Saturday. It turned out to be quite an exciting day. We were holding out hope for no rain but knew the forecast didn't look good. We were awakened in the night to pouring rain knowing that our outside tractor/machine party would have to be moved inside. The rain only worsened and a thunderstorm ensued. About two hours prior to the party, our house was struck by lightening. Kevin and I both saw sparks fly off opposite sides of the roof and you can imagine how loud it was. Thankfully, after the firefighters (yes, really) checked out the attic which smelled of smoke, they gave us the all clear and we were set to get ready for the party. It did require some creative adjustments due to the fact that we had no power to our garage as a result of the strike (where we were planning on doing the pinata). One of the wonderful things about young kids is that they could have cared less about all of our plans; they had a great time together at the party despite all the last minute changes.

Storytime

If you saw the way Tyler dressed, you would think we were diehard Longhorn fans one day and Aggie fans the very next day. While we do support the teams, we do not supply him with his "uniforms" as he refers to them. That's what family is for. Tyler loves sports uniforms and every day he is playing for Texas, the Aggies, or Duke (occasionally, the Roos get a day too). I got plenty of comments taking the kids places when they were dressed in opposing team's uniforms. Tyler chose his and believe it or not, Megan chose hers. This same day, Tyler decided he wanted to read (no, he can't actually read) Megan books before her naptime instead of me reading to her. Of course, I thought this was such a sweet big brother thing to do, that I grabbed the camera. It still amazes me how kids absorb books. He "read" Megan two albeit short Bob the Builder books word for word and here are some pictures I captured.
