Tyler's 5th Birthday

It is hard to believe that our baby boy is already five! The years have gone by so fast, but when we think of how much he has changed in the past five years, it does begin to make sense (a little bit at least). Tyler had his birthday party this year at Pump It Up - a place with multiple inflatable slides, obstacle courses, etc. It is crazy to think he used to be unwilling to step into a moon bounce of any kind, given his enthusiasm about his party this year. He has matured so much over the last year. While some of his interests were established long ago (like his love of sports), he is beginning to discover new interests too. I have been amazed recently at his attention to equations. While this usually consists of rather simple addition and subtraction, the other day in the car he asked me which number was bigger, pi or infinity! Wow, I was totally shocked by his question, and wanted to say, you remember you are in preschool, right? However, I didn't, knowing full well that the love of mathematics is in his genes. Within the next few weeks, we will visit the elementary school in the neighborhood where Tyler will go to Kindergarten next year; and another chapter will begin...

Congratulations Kris and Carrie!!!

The weekend of January 5th, Kevin and I travelled to Corpus Christi to celebrate the marriage of our friends Kris and Carrie. All of the wedding festivities were wonderful right down to the beautiful weather. We are so glad we were able to celebrate with them. Kris and Carrie are some of Tyler and Megan's favorite people (they even babysit sometimes!) and Tyler has been really eager for them to get married. He laughs and says, "now Carrie has a silly last name too" (their last name is Kitchen).

Kelly saved the text message Kris sent to announce their engagement from San Francisco. It says, "She said YES!"

The Holidays

Here are some pictures of our holidays. They were full of activity - lots of family, lots of late nights, and lots of excitement. We had a wonderful Christmas and New Year and enjoyed all of the special events of the season. However, it was nice when January arrived and we could return to some semblance of normal.
