Most summers, we escape to The Palo Duro Club in Canyon, TX for a break from our busy lives. While it is difficult to explain how going to the panhandle for a week could be a rejuvenating experience, it truly is. The PDC, as we call it, began over 100 years ago as a getaway for families (Kevin could give you the detailed history because he has read the book with all the information in it, but you will just get the basics from me). There are about 100 "cabins" (most are not as rustic as the word makes them sound) throughout the property. Kevin's mom spent summers there when she was growing up and her brothers' families have cabins where they spend a great deal of their summers there now. Going there is such a great reminder of how simple life can be and how we can benefit from that simplicity. For entertainment, the choices are limited - swimming, playing at the playscape, sand hill, tennis, fishing, or going on a pasture ride - that is about it. As a parent it is always a joy to see the kids making up new games in the dirt roads or on sand hill. Another perk of the trip is all of the extended family. Kevin' has many cousins and a number of them spend all or part of their summers at the PDC, so our kids have their cousins they see all the time, but also their amarillo cousins. As always, it was a great trip for all of us (I had the chance to read 4 books!) As I was loading all of these pictures I was noticing how there are many more of Megan than Tyler. Tyler was having such a great time with all the cousins he was rarely still long enough to catch him in an activity.

I wasn't quite fast enough for the boy cousin picture

Here are the girl cousins posing

I love this picture. Kevin was hitting a tennis ball as high as he could and the kids were mesmerized by it.
