The kids love them and were excited to tell them all about our activities on the days that they were not able to come with us. We didn't know how much we would be able to see with the kids, but they were troopers and we saw a lot. I have posted tons of pictures of our trip but left out most of the monuments/animals/memorial pictures that didn't include family in order to save time and space.
Our airplane for the first leg of our trip. This was Megan's first time on a plane and the first time Tyler remembers flying. Even with flight complications on the way home which resulted in many extra hours on the plane, they did great. 
Paul is the chief of the Falls Church Volunteer Fire Department and promised us a while back for a fire house tour, fire engine ride, and that Kevin could drive the fire truck if we came to visit. This was a highlight for all of us. We strapped the kids car seats into the fire engine and went through the neighborhood. THe fire engine was a little too loud for Megan, yet she has not stopped talking about the ride since we got home. It is the only thing she tells people about when they ask her about the trip. Kevin even got to drive the fire engine around a parking lot. Thank you so much, Paul!!! It was awesome.
One of the many memorials we visited was the FDR memorial which was new since the last time we were there. Both kids wanted to sit on FDR's lap and Megan really liked the life-size dog. While we didn't take pictures of them, the quotes throughout the FDR memorial are so appropriate to our country today. It made me think we should be paying more attention to those who have gone before us. 
Tyler's favorite thing about the trip was the Lincoln Memorial.
