Austin College Reunion

Last weekend, Kevin and I went back to Austin College for my 10-year reunion. It is unbelievable how much the school has changed. We always liked the campus, but now it is state of the art. New buildings, stadiums, academic programs - it was exciting to see the progress of the school. It was also wonderful to reconnect with old friends - some who I still see regularly and some that I haven't seen in 10 years. While Sherman has made progress too (they now have an Old Navy and a Target), it is still very much the same. We were glad to be back there for a weekend and look forward to taking the kids with us next time.

My former roommates Marissa and Christel. The house we lived in is now a parking lot. It was a school owned property. They actually made us move out after finals before Christmas so they could begin demolishing it. The only good thing about that was that they provided us with a much nicer house since we were forced out. We missed Lee street though!

Many people may not know that I spent two years on the Austin College swim team. One of my former roomies, Marissa and I took a tour around campus reminiscing and she insisted we capture my old swimming locker and the pool. I had a love/hate relationship with my membership on the team. There were times I really enjoyed it, but also many times when I remember hating it! The hating part could have had a lot to do with the 2 hour 5 day a week workouts. I am definitely glad I experienced it, but was also glad to have two years without it. It was fun to be back there though.
